Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Protecting your privacy and providing a great experience for you on this game is important to us. We created this Privacy Policy so that you are aware what information we collect on the site, how we use it, and with whom who we share it.

1. What information do we collect?

We collect information from you when you register to participate in the online world and gather data when you read, write, and evaluate the content shared there. We also collect information if you sign up for our newsletter or e-mail list.

When registering or signing up, you may be asked to enter a username and e-mail address. You may, however, visit our site without registering or signing up. Your e-mail address may require verification by an e-mail containing a unique link. If that link is visited, we know that you control the e-mail address.

In addition to any Personal Information or other information that you choose to submit to us via our Service, we and our third-party service providers may use a variety of technologies that automatically (or passively) store or collect certain information whenever you visit or interact with the Service “Usage Information“.

This Usage Information may include:

  • your IP address, UDID, device identifier or other unique identifier (“UID”). A device identifier is a number that is automatically assigned to your Device used to access the Service, and our computers identify your Device by its device identifier;
  • your Device location (with your permission or consent);
  • your Device characteristics and certain other Device data, including the time of day.

Tracking Technologies

We may use various methods and technologies to store or collect Usage Information (“Tracking Technologies”) in order to improve the Services and better understand and personalize your experiences on the Services. Tracking Technologies may set, change, alter or modify settings or configurations on your Device. The Apps may also receive signals from and otherwise interact with Tracking Technologies that exist in the physical world (e.g., iBeacons, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth Low Energy at retail locations, discussed below). A few of the Tracking Technologies include, without limitation, the following (and subsequent technology and methods later developed):

  • Cookies. A cookie is a data file placed on a Device when it is used to visit the Service.
  • Web Beacons. Small graphic images or other web programming code called web beacons (also known as “1x1 GIFs” or “clear GIFs”) may be included in our Service’s pages and messages.
  • Embedded Scripts. An embedded script is programming code that is designed to collect information about your interactions with the Service, such as the links you click on. The code is temporarily downloaded onto your Device from our web server or a third party service provider, is active only while you are connected to the Service, and is deactivated or deleted thereafter.
  • Browser Fingerprinting. We may collect and analyze information from your Device, such as, without limitation, your operating system, plug-ins, system fonts and other data, for purposes of identification where permitted.
  • ETag, or Entity Tag. A feature of the cache in browsers. It is an opaque identifier assigned by a web server to a specific version of a resource found at a URL. If the resource content at that URL ever changes, a new and different ETag is assigned. Used in this manner ETags are a form of UID. ETag tracking may generate unique tracking values even where the consumer blocks HTTP, Flash, and/or HTML5 cookies.
  • Recognition Technologies. Technologies, including application of statistical probability to data sets, which attempt to recognize or make assumptions about users and devices (e.g., that a user of multiple devices is the same user).
  • Location-identifying Technologies. Additionally, and with your consent where required by applicable law, the Services may use GPS (global positioning systems) software and other location-based technologies to locate you so we may verify your location, deliver you relevant content based on your location, as well as allow you to share your location to other users as part of the services we provide via the Services. Upon downloading the App, we provide location-based services to your approximate and/or exact location information. You can opt-out of sharing location data on most Services by adjusting your settings in your device or App.

2. How do we use your information?

Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:

  • To keep you up to date about the game and other happenings at “Sentient Bit“ through our newsletter;
  • To personalize your experience — your information helps us to better respond to your individual needs;
  • To improve our site — we continually strive to improve our site offerings based on the information and feedback we receive from you;
  • To improve customer service — your information helps us to more effectively respond to your customer service requests and support needs;
  • To send periodic emails — the email address you provide may be used to send you information (for example, notifications from the forum that you request about changes to topics or in response to your username), respond to inquiries, and/or other requests or questions.

3. How do we protect your information?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you enter, submit, or access your personal information. All the passwords are using modern hash algorithms, so nobody can steal them. Also, all the email addresses are kept encrypted and we do not send unsolicited mails.

4. Do we use cookies?

Yes. Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser (if you permit). These cookies enable the site to recognize your browser and, if you have a registered account, associate it with your registered account.

We use cookies to understand and save your preferences for future visits and compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future. We may contract with third-party service providers to assist us in better understanding our site visitors. These service providers are not permitted to use the information collected on our behalf except to help us conduct and improve our business.

5. Do we disclose any information to outside parties?

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our site, conducting our business, or servicing you, or entities that acquire us or that we merge with, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect our or others’ rights, property, or safety. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

6. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and players under 13

Our site, products and services are all directed to people who are at least 13 years old or older.

We do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from children under the age of 13 without parental consent, except as permitted by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) or other applicable laws.

If you are under the age of 13, per the requirements of COPPA, you should not provide us with any personal information unless your parent has approved.

7. Accessing and making changes to your information

You have the right to know about the information that we hold about you. If you would like to know what information we are holding, you should contact us. If the information we hold about you is wrong, insufficient or irrelevant, then you have the right to make sure that it gets corrected or removed.

If personal information you provided to us changes, or if you no longer wish us to have it, you may correct, update, amend, or deactivate it by contacting us or by mailing us at the address listed below.
